The Stages Of The Restoration |

The Drawing The way we did this was to first take a rubbing of what was left of the window. Then draw in the rest. In the photo on the top right, an apprentice is drawing in the missing sections of the window from an archived photo.
The photo below shows the drawing much further along with some shading and overlaid drawings of the hands and feet with more detail. |

With only an old photo of the window that was taken before the fire, we started recreating the missing sections of the window.
After only a few months of work, we finished the window and restored it to its original condition. The picture on the right shows the window after restoration was complete. (right)

The photo on the bottom right shows the process of drawing in the details for the hand. All pieces that are to be painted will have their tracing and shading done on paper beforehand. This is what we call the beginning of the “wax-up” process. |
